This is my second project at the University of Florida. The Matrix, my second architecture project, invites a profound exploration of elevations and datums as we delve into the continued intricate realm of three-dimensional interpretation. We embarked on the process of uncovering potential datums through sketching, with the guidance to reference the architectural graphics text provided on Canvas for a deeper understanding of elevations. The challenge posed was to iterate through various sketches until a definitive solution emerges, one that holds the potential to become the central datum of our matrix. This datum, when crafted exquisitely, should manifest in three dimensions through the utilization of a single material, mine was gulf wax. The dimensional constraints for the datum encompass a maximum of 4.5” in height, 18” in length, and an undetermined thickness denoted by the elevation interpreted from our Bristol collages. Working with gulf was a challenge upon itself but something I am glad I worked with, adapting and learning the construction constantly, to hold the wax is what created the structure you see now.
